... a public hearing on the town's proposed wind ordinance will take place at 7 p.m. July 20 at the town hall. Dombert asked if the board planned to approve the law after the hearing.
“I would guess that's the board's intention unless something comes up that would need changes,” Prior said.
Public hearings this summer have ratcheted up discussions. A third will come next week.
Advocates for Springfield President Harry Levine attended the previous hearings to recommend changes to a draft environmental impact statement.
The meetings have stayed polite and under control despite wind energy being a topic of controversy, Levine said.
"There are a lot of emotional issues here," he said.
The Town Board set a date for a public hearing Thursday on proposed zoning law amendments that would tighten regulations for construction of windmills.
The hearing is 7pm July 27 at the Town Hall.
Town Attorney Paul Boylan said the LeRoy Planning Board recommended the zoning changes for wind energy systems. The requested amendments include definitions for windmills for use by the property owner and commercial operations that would sell power, he said.
The planning board will meet to review changes to the town's comprehensive plan -- changes that they noted are specifically caused by the turbine influx.
This meeting is open to the public
